Recently, Apple sent notifications to several German politicians and governmental representatives warning them of possible attempts to infect their mobile devices with advanced spyware known as 'mercenary spyware'. This software can stealthily monitor communications and control device features.

German cybersecurity authorities have been informed and are working to identify the scope and origins of these espionage attempts. So far, it is unclear how many were targeted or if any devices were fully compromised.

The spyware's capabilities include access to encrypted messages, calls, contacts, and even activating microphones and cameras without consent. Apple stressed the complexity of detecting such attacks and the ongoing investigation aims to enhance protection against such threats.
